Get more out of your insulation

Insulation is one of the major cornerstones of any energy-efficient construction project. It ensures that your building is comfortably heated and prevents energy loss through its walls, floors and the roof structure. And this is good news for your energy consumption.

Get more out of your insulation

Insulation is one of the major cornerstones of any energy-efficient construction project. It ensures that your building is comfortably heated and prevents energy loss through its walls, floors and the roof structure. And this is good news for your energy consumption.

insulation always keeps the heat inside, even during the summer months! As a result, the temperature inside the building can rise quickly, causing the cooling and ventilation system to run at full throttle. This is anything but energy-efficient. Fortunately, there is an alternative: insulation that you can turn on and off.

How it works

Active Insulation board

Active Insulation Board
Active Insulation Board Detail

The active insulation board includes air ducts that extend from top to bottom on both sides. The system has a collecting receptacle at both ends of these air ducts. Both receptacles are connected by an opening on both sides of the insulation board, which includes a low voltage ventilator. The board is covered on both sides with a foil.

Ventilator

Switching the insulation off

As soon as the sun shines on the outside wall, the air contained in the cavity wall is heated up. This means that the air in the outer ducts also gets warmer. This warm air is pumped towards the inner side of the insulation by two small low voltage ventilators, which are fitted to the top and bottom of the board. The cooling process works in the same way, but in reverse order.

Air flow

Independent control systems

Each board is fitted with its own ventilator and can therefore be operated separately. This means that you can turn the insulation boards on or off, whenever required, in all the insulated rooms. This is very convenient if you think about the changing position of the sun. Active insulation boards enable you to allow cool or warm air to come into the places where you need it - at any time of day.

Optimum comfort

The idea is simple - you can use less energy to heat and cool your building, if the insulation is adjustable. This enables you to use your insulation when it is really necessary. And the indoor climate is always just right, regardless of the conditions. What’s more, research shows that active insulation will allow you to save over 80 % on cooling costs.

Extensive use

Not only walls in residential buildings can benefit from active insulation. This solution also enables you to make considerable savings on your heating and cooling costs in offices and in the industry. The boards are also ideal for buildings with prefabricated elements. Would you like to take things a step further? On top of the walls, you can also fit your floor and roof with active insulation boards. This will enable you to enjoy a comfortable indoor climate at a lower cost throughout the year.
